The square was named after the Battle of Trafalgar. There’s an incredible list of historical architectural works to be seen at Trafalgar Square, such as the many plinths, which are large bases that supports a statue on top. There are many depictions of historical figures immortalised through the many plinths of Trafalgar Square. Nelson’s Column is one of the most iconic monuments, and it stands an incredible fifty-six metres in height.
