Coimbra is a historic site that is filled with cultural beauty and houses the best university in the country for more than 5 centuries now.
History
The city of Coimbra sits atop a hill near the Mondego River and for 20 years after the Roman influence, it was abandoned. The Portuguese had the biggest influence on the city and most of the buildings speak of that era too.

The College
Made up of a few mighty buildings that vary in colours, the university is famous and is known as the best in the country. The stone walls of every building on campus were set centuries ago, except for the newer buildings and expansions that were added to catch up with the technology of today.

Location
The campus or site is near a beautiful river and therefore, provides an amazing view from the topmost floors. A typical Coimbra city centre hotel wouldn’t be too far from campus either, like the Tivoli Coimbra Hotel, for instance.
When to go
When the college is open for students, you can see throngs of youngsters out and about the campus, at the cafes, studying on the grass or just chilling with their friends.
