An ideal spot to relax, Ohori Park is a picturesque spot in Fukuoka city and here’s more on this attraction that draws locals and tourists alike.

Planning a Visit
This city park is open free to the public and is in a central part of the city around a 10-minute drive from lyf Tenjin Fukuoka. The Ohorikoen Station is walking distance away, while notable sites of interest such as Fukuoka Castle (the park’s pond was once part of the castle’s moat) and Maizuru Park are also nearby.
What to Expect
Set amidst scenic greenery and featuring a large pond in the middle with three islands, Ohori Park showcases a classical garden-style like that of China’s West Lake. Those at a co-living space or hotel in Fukuoka can look forward to walking, jogging and paddle boating here, while you may spot winter birds such as the Eurasian coot too.
The Japanese Garden
For a small entrance fee, you can visit the Ohori Park Japanese Garden where one can enjoy more tranquillity and nature’s beauty. This typical Japanese garden features a pond, rock garden, artificial hills and forest areas; there’s also a tea house and tea ceremony building where one can enjoy traditional green tea (prior reservation may be needed).
Fukuoka Art Museum
Another of the key attractions in Fukuoka can be accessed here; the Fukuoka City Art Museum has a permanent collection with fascinating exhibits including sculptures and paintings along with 11th-century Buddhist statues and Asian antiques. Depending on when you visit, you may also be able to see some of its temporary exhibitions.
