The Erawan Shrine is a Hindu denominational shrine situated in the Thai capital of Bangkok. The shrine is dedicated to the Thai incarnation of the Hindu God Brahma, who is locally referred to as Phra Phrom. It features a statue of Phra Phrom which is depicted with four heads. The history behind the construction of the shrine is an interesting one. In 1956, the government started construction on the Erawan Hotel. However, progress on the hotel was constantly delayed due to a series of unfortunate mishaps. An astrologer was consulted and he advised that a shrine should be built to bring good karma. After a small shrine was constructed progress on the building went without a hitch.
