Being an island with a tropical climate, Sri Lanka is blessed with immaculate shores and lush mountains just waiting to be discovered! If you are planning to travel to this beautiful island, here are some experiences you must not miss out on during your tour.
The Elephant Gathering In Minneriya
From July to October, the dry season hits this part of the island, this is also when the elephants begin their migration. The Minneriya Tank, built by King Mahasen is on this migration route. Visit the nature reserve during this period and witness around 300 elephants crossing this body of water. Lonely Planet recognises this occurrence as one of the largest wildlife gatherings in the world.
Visit the Galle Fort

Considered to be one of the best tourist places in Sri Lanka, this magnificent fort has stood the test of time! Built by the Portuguese back in 1588 and later fortified by the Dutch, this part of the city of Galle certainly stays true to Sri Lanka’s colonial past. Galle Fort is ever so lively with both tourists and locals walking across the ramparts, clicking pictures of the stunning ocean view or even shopping or dining at the little boutiques within the premises.
