Burj Khalifa of Dubai is a building with many world records. The tower, designed to resemble the Hymenocallis flower, is the tallest building in the world, the tallest free-standing structure, the elevator with the longest travel distance, and the building with the highest number of floors worldwide. The construction of the building commenced in 2004, and it was officially declared open in 2010. Named after the ruler of Abu Dhabi – Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al Nahyan, it is dedicated to him in his honour. The Burj Khalifa redefined the architectural and engineering possibility of constructing a building with a remarkable height.
