Bali may be known for its beautiful beaches but the Kintamani volcano or the Mount Batur range as a whole is one of Bali’s many attractions in the central highlands. This active volcano is surrounded by captivating views of nature at its best and the pristine Lake Batur.
The Kintamani volcano tour is very popular amongst tourists. Those looking to stay nearby at a Bali golf resort can opt to stay at the many close by options including Anantara Uluwatu Bali Resort and many others. Home to a small population consisting mainly of farmers and merchants, the locals of these Balinese villages follow their own indigenous cultures and lifestyles. Temples and rice fields can be seen all around whilst Bali’s biggest lake, Lake Batur provides for their irrigation system.
Penelokan is one of the main villages of the Kintamani area and is your best bet at enjoying all that Kintamani has to offer, from the beautiful lake to the fertile surrounding green lands to the lava slopes and molten rocks. Nearby Toya Bungkah is home to hot springs. These lakeside springs are known for their healing, therapeutic powers. The temperature of these mineral water springs can rise to 45 degrees Celsius at times.
The Batur Volcano, is the most active on the island and has erupted approximately 24 times since the 1800s up until its last eruption in the year 2000. Society in the area has been greatly impacted by the volcano but due to the scenic beauty of the lake and the volcanic cone of Batur, Kintamani continues to remain one of Bali’s most visited tourist destinations.
The recommended times for visits are generally from 10am to 3pm due to the pleasant weather and clear skies. Mount Batur is a three hour hike in itself. Most visitors prefer to enjoy their lunch at one of the many local restaurants with a lake view.
