Standing tall over Dubai’s skyline, the Burj Khalifa isn’t just the world’s tallest building—it’s a must-see landmark. Whether you’re heading up to the observation decks for jaw-dropping views of the city, desert, and coastline, or just soaking in its sleek design and cool exhibits, there’s plenty to explore. Add in some amazing dining options, and a visit here turns into something more than a simple visit.
The Construction
Construction on the Burj Khalifa kicked off on 6 January 2004, with the world-famous Skidmore Owings Merrill (SOM) studio behind its design. Led by Adrian Smith, the team had to tackle some serious engineering challenges – and the fact that Dubai wanted to make a statement: show off its growing global presence and create a skyscraper that would literally reach new heights.
What’s Inside
The Burj Khalifa isn’t just a tall tower—it’s a whole city in one building, blending homes, offices, hotels, and fun spots all under one roof. Its construction put Dubai firmly on the map as a global financial hub and a top travel destination. Since it opened, tourism has skyrocketed, and the city has changed completely, with all those iconic skyscrapers now dominating Downtown and hotels on the Palm Dubai.
Travelling to the Burj
Reaching the Burj Khalifa is straightforward, no matter how you choose to get around Dubai. The Red Line metro stops at Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall, placing you within easy walking distance of the landmark. Several bus routes, including F13, 27, 28, 29, 50, and X22, also serve the area from different parts of the city. Taxis remain a convenient option as well, especially when travelling directly from your accommodation, such as NH Collection Dubai The Palm.
Seeing from the Burj

If you’re in Dubai, seeing the world’s tallest building is a must. You can admire the Burj Khalifa from the ground or head inside its 828-metre tower for jaw-dropping views. There are three main observation options: the 124th & 125th floors, the 148th floor, and the VIP Lounge on floors 152 to 154.
