The Three Areas
The Grand Palace is divided into three main sections, each with distinct functions and significance. The Outer Court houses royal offices, public buildings, and the revered Temple of the Emerald Buddha. The Middle Court contains the principal royal residences and state halls, including the Chakri Mahaprasat Throne Hall built under King Rama V, the Borom Phiman Mansion, and the Maha Monthien Prasat complex. The Inner Court, by contrast, was once reserved exclusively for the reigning monarch, his queen, and consorts.
